Dark place at least the one on rymal. The upper james one is pretty lit. Food was a joke. First off if it's not super dry like the chicken, the seafood rice looked like soup... from one extreme to the next. The dish that was actually okay was bacalhau braz. I paid over 140 dollars for crap that I would be embarrassed to serve to anyone. But I guess the fact that they are still in business says something about what most people are willing to overlook
A regular at the other Toma La on Upper James. This location on Rymal is disappointing by comparison. Same wonderful flavours but smaller portions, inattentive staff, although the overall vibe is more upscale. I will stick with the place I k is from now on. Less atmosphere but more satisfying overall.
When we walked in we were greatly right away with friendly smiles. The aroma of the chicken being prepared in the rotisserie hits you. Seated instantly. The wait staff were fast in getting us what we wanted. The food was prepared fresh and on point. There were other tables occupied and the noise levels weren't distracting at all. Highly recommend it ?
We live right around the corner but it haven’t been yet. We were very pleased and certainly kicking ourselves for not going sooner! We had the BBQ chicken (both dark and white) and it was heavenly. Excellent flavours. Great portions. We also had the brussel sprouts which were so delicious we couldn’t stop eating them. Desserts were to die for too. Honestly, a great local spot that we will be coming back to very soon
I have been a long time patron of this restaurant but they have lost my future business. Ordered 2 xtudo chicken sandwiches and another meal to go. When we got home there was no chicken in the sandwich, just the bacon and onions and eggs. The main ingredient is chicken. Called to let them know and ask for a credit for the next time. Spoke with manager who would not give a credit only said we had to return to the store and bring the sandwiches back and they would make us new ones. We do not live close to the store and this was not acceptable to me. Manager then went on to say that she asked the cook and they said they put the chicken on and now she says she saw them make the sandwich. Very unfortunate that this was my very poor customer experience at a place we really enjoyed take out from. I will no longer give my business to an establishment that treats the customer like they are dishonest.
Sad because I wanted to love it. Portuguese on the mountain, but dang the service is not great. You can hear the “mom” swearing in the back and the young man upfront moves at a snails pace. Placed an order pick up for 7:10 and was waiting in the takeout lobby for 20 mins after it was supposed to be done.
We ordered for a Stag and Doe last weekend for 150+ people and the food was fresh, tasted amazing. I had communication with Steve throughout the process and he was on point and very pleasant. All in all everything was a success with the amount of food figured out by Steve was plentiful, and that hot sauce was absolutely amazing. From the chef to the delivery personnel I would highly recommend. All the guests were extremely happy w the feast!
