They have very good variety of products that you normally dont find in any other desi store in Hamilton and on top of that they have very friendly staff
Very disappointed with the service at Desi Mandi.( zero star review) I asked the meat section person about goat feet, because I was confused — they told me earlier they had goat feet, but what they actually had was lamb feet. When I tried to confirm politely, he spoke very rudely and acted as if I was wrong. Instead of helping and clarifying, he had an attitude and behaved in an unprofessional manner. As a customer, I expect honesty and respectful communication. Lying about products and then talking rudely when asked for clarification is unacceptable. Management should seriously train the staff in customer service and transparency. Very disappointed — I do not recommend the meat section at this store.
The person in the meat section was extremely rude and unprofessional. He needs to learn how to treat customers with respect and learn some customer etiquette.
Very disappointing experience. We always try to support local and community shops, but this visit was frustrating. We accidentally bought a polished (oily) daal instead of the non-polished one we wanted. The item was not on clearance, it was unopened, we had the receipt, and it was well within the seven-day return period clearly mentioned on their own receipt. We didn’t even ask for a refund — we just wanted to exchange it for the same brand and same item, only the non-polished version. Still, the staff refused to cooperate and showed an unprofessional attitude. They wouldn’t listen or help until we really had to make them understand the situation. At the end of the day, they did return it, but only after a lot of effort and unnecessary hassle. Honestly, it’s better to buy Indian groceries from Walmart, FreshCo, or No Frills, where customer service actually matters and policies are respected. Supporting local shouldn’t mean struggling to be heard
I have a wonderful experience. The store is very clean. The staff is very helpful. If I’m looking for a specific stuff, they help me to find it and specially the meat section is very clean the way I want my meat. The butcher helps me with that perfect and next time, I’m only going over there.
We came here just to buy a few snacks, but the cashier scanned and charged us for two rakhri (worth $30) that we never bought. He even scanned them, charged us, and then put them back on the counter — clearly overcharging on purpose. This is unacceptable and feels like a scam, especially towards students. Today you made $30 extra from us by turning $40 worth of snacks into a $70 bill. Remember, money made this way never lasts — and your reputation will pay the real price. Everyone is working hard to earn an honest living, but people like you are just sitting and waiting to cheat others.
The food store beside desi mandi the pokora were disgusting. You can taste sandy like material in it like they didnt wash the ingredients properly. Will never buy again. Grose!
